With 64 years’ experience in the design and engineering of custom molds, at Legacy Plastics, Inc. we maintain a fully equipped shop and employ a team of experts that can solve the most challenging molding projects. A client in the hunting industry needed to redesign a tool used to minimize meat spoilage in field dressed animals. The current design had four parts that had to be sonic welded together. Our customer needed the tool reduced to two with no welding. We redesigned the tool to fit our client’s requirements, and employed our injection molding system with hydraulic core pull function to manufacture it. Made with acetal with a semi-gloss finish, the newly redesigned tool measured 1″ x 14″ and was molded to tolerances of ± 0.005″. We were able to complete this project in its entirety within 12 weeks, performing testing and inspections to ensure each tool was functional and met our customer’s specifications. The final product provided a huge cost reduction, allowing our client to give the go-ahead for a full production run.
